Sometimes we need to focus on ourselves and our wellbeing. This is one of a one-of-a-kind projects that Renao Design Studio worked on for a client who wants to set aside time to focus on relaxing and hiking around the area. They has a little perch of land near Haliburton surrounded by nature. It was a true escape from their high-stress job in the city.

Our interior design studio specializes in bespoke projects such as this where we explore many different options in the realm of small space design or tiny home. We also looked into locally available materials to build the structure. Natural materials like wood and metal were chosen for this little studio space. The playfulness of using material that ages with time creates expression with the surrounding landscape.

Copper was used as the skin on the facade and the roof. The copper gave the building a sculptural quality. Also, it ages with time, which translates into a living being in nature. For the interior, Black Spruce was used. It is a local softwood that is commonly available everywhere in Ontario. Materials that last long are not only sustainable but we also had to consider the accessibility to the site to built.
